Baptism

Baptism is the recognition of God’s love and mutual response making a difference in the world. Baptism is a commitment to faith, to God, to Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit and is a cherished ritual within the life of the church.

The United Church offers baptism to all ages. We believe that the gift of God’s love does not depend on our ability to understand it, so we baptize people from infancy right through adulthood. In infant and child baptism, parents or sponsors make promises on behalf of the children. The ceremony takes place during a regular worship service and the whole congregation pledges to support the child and their parents.

If you are considering baptism for yourself or your child, please contact Rev. Rachel.

Weddings

Weddings celebrate commitment, mutual trust, joy, and the presence of God in our lives. We welcome all persons, inclusive of all faith backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities, to be married in our sanctuary.

We encourage all couples to participate in marriage preparation. This may be offered by our Minister or by another Community organization that offers preparation classes. It is truly a joy for St. Paul’s to participate in your wedding. Please make an appointment with Rev. Rachel to discuss the service, availability of the sanctuary, fees, deposits, building use guidelines, set-up arrangements, and rehearsal times.

Celebration of Life

Funerals & Memorial Services

Our faith teaches us that God is with us in life, in death, and in life beyond death. Funerals, Memorial Services, and Celebrations of Life are a time to recall the miracle of life, to give thanks for the life of our loved one who is deceased, and to mourn our loss. They are intended to honour those who have died, to comfort those who mourn, and to assure you that you are never alone.

Services will be held for church members and adherents, family members, and others who have purchased burial plots at St. Paul’s United Church Cemetery. Sometimes, on special request, we will perform Memorial Services for others who have no connection to the Church but are much loved by the Community. Please contact Rev. Rachel to discuss church availability, fees, etc., and the ways in which you wish your loved one to be honoured in the service.

Services may take place in the church Sanctuary or at the graveside at St. Paul’s United Church Cemetery.
